I guess I was expecting some more practical advice on the hypnobirthing method than this book provides. While the author does include some tips and advice, a lot of the chapters refer vaguely to what you will or have learned in the class which doesn't help if you don't plan on taking the class. Just don't expect a guide to HypnoBirthing, it's more of a companion and the information that is included can be found in other books that will go more in depth on pain management techniques.

This book literally changed my life. At 33 weeks pregnant with my first baby I finally wised up to all the nonsense being thrown at me from our current birthing culture, including the stupid hospital based birth class I was enrolled in. I found this blessed book, devoured it cover to cover at least 3 times, and practiced the techniques religiously. Since I didn't have time to take a class (which would've been my preference), I hired a doula who was also a HypnoBirthing practitioner. I ended up having a lovely and empowering unmedicated hospital birth, despite my baby being slightly posterior (back labor!). That experience was so transformative that I found myself becoming passionate about birth, and decided to become a HypnoBirthing educator and birth doula myself. Now I'm in the business of helping other moms experience a joyful, calm birth!

The Kindle version of this book DOES NOT come with a CD or directions where the material that is on the CD can be downloaded. Since the CD is essential for this book, purchasing the Kindle version of this book is useless.

So I totally buy into the philosophies laid out in this book, I'm working with a midwife, having a home birth and already taking the hypnobirthing course - so this isn't a review of the method but strictly of this book. 80 pages in I'm frustrated that the content is just preaching to the choir rather than focused on helping parents to be build skills to help them have a peaceful birthing experience. I'm a busy momma to be and wish she would cut to the chase instead of repeatedly convincing people who already bought the book that it was, in fact, a good choice that makes them smarter than other parents. I'm not competing with parents who choose differently. I don't need your praise Mrs. Mongan. I'm not particularly interested in how cats give birth or how you liked dolls when you were little. I just want techniques to get my birth experience of choice.

Be prepared to skim 3/4 of the book, because the useful information is scattered within a large amount of fluff. A large part of this read is the author recounting old stories of her childhood that led her to write this book. Sure, say something like that in the prologue, but get to the point when the book starts! There were a few gold nuggets of information scattered throughout the book that helped me understand some of the nuts and bolts behind the hypnobirthing method, but it took quite a bit of digging. Another large portion of this book was dedicated to encouraging the reader to just take the class to learn more.... Not very helpful as I bought this book to help me decide if I wanted to pay the money for the class.After some research, I learned that Hypnobabies & Hypnobirthing are different pedagogies. Hypnobirthing came first, and Hypnobabies is supposed to be a more information-rich, medically based spin-off from the Hypnobirthing class. I decided I was more interested in the Hypnobabies class but bought this book anyway because Hypnobabies doesn't seem to have their own book. But unfortunately, my Hypnobabies instructor said the two pedagogies differ in a number of ways.

The method of HypnoBirthing is tremendous. However, the quality content of this book was lacking. Anyone trying to buy this book is already interested in the Hypno Birthing method, but this book had so much fluff to get through before even getting to how to actually use this method. Instead of giving more insight on how a mother can keep her focus on her baby entering the world while there is chaos or turmoil around her during birth, I was instead given pages on why I should focus. I already knew the pros of that focus by using hypnobirthing, hense the purchase, I didn't need to be resold on buying the book I had already bought and was trying to get something useful out of. I will say I feel like I paid just for the cd in the back of the book

Life-altering book on birth. And it’s super practical for other situations besides birth - see below. My first two were hospital births, one with an epidural after four hours of labor and the second with an epidural after twelve hours of labor because I wanted a “natural” birth. But I had no method of dealing with the pain. With my third, I used a birthing center and turned to this book. My husband was skeptical, but I practiced the relaxation and listened to Rainbow Relaxation, and that third birth was extremely fast (two and a half hours active labor) and much easier in most senses. Painful, yes, but less painful than the other two labors before I had the epidural. My recovery was faster, and I had so much energy after the birth, whereas the first two I was exhausted. My husband became a firm believer in this method too; he says I made no noise at all during labor except a couple moans when “pushing.” We had a fourth child and the same labor repeated itself.I have also used the techniques in other situations - when I get angry, or anxious, or am in physical pain from other things. Self-hypnosis has proved to be a wonderful tool in my belt.My husband and I both have nothing but praise for the HypnoBirthing Method.

I have a number of Raspberry Pi's sitting around from various projects I have experimented with in the past. I came across this book on building a cluster using two Raspberry Pi's.The book guides you though MPI (Message Passing Interface) and Hadoop and provides novices with a good guide for getting started.As well as software development aspects there are some fun little side projects like building your own stackable case using Lego's. There is also an interesting introduction to super computing to give you a background to the field.Overall a great introduction to parallel computing aimed at the novice.

My students build the basic Super Cluster detailed here, and went on to add a Western Digital USB hard drive, and an associated 4-Pi stack. This guide was accurate and Methodical.

A very quick read for clustering the Pi, yet detailed with links to download current functional software. I thought it would be much longer for such a complex subject.Mixed feelings.Add the star I took off if you want. It's that good. I am very impressed.

Excellent reference! attached a picture of what I put together with the help of this book.

I had seen this book in a store and only had a brief time to skim through, but that was enough to convince me to buy the book! The content is excellent; if a little intimidating at first. Scratch a little deeper and you find a comprehensive reference document that gets down and dirty with its subject.Have to admit I'm still dipping in and out of the book at the moment; but if you want to have a deeper understanding of fundamental concepts in lighting calculations this is your book.
