Marlene Aparecida de Souza Mukai nasceu em São Pedro da União, em Minas Gerais. Passou sua infância e adolescência em Monte Santo de Minas onde aprendeu a modelar e costurar. Formada em História e Geografia, lecionou na rede pública e particular por 20 anos. Fez desenho e artes gráficas na Panamericana, Escola de Art e Design. Professora de formação, especializou-se em Modelagem, corte e costura, tendo feito vários cursos livres de Modelagem e Confecção de Roupas tais como Rederb, Toutemome, Coreano, Retangular, Geométrico, Sínger, Moulage, Alfaiataria Italiana, Alfaiataria Alemã, Alfaiataria Francesa, entre outros. Trabalhou com confecção de roupas por 12 anos. Fez modelagem industrial para várias confecções em São Paulo, por 18 anos. Desenvolveu seu próprio método de modelagem a qual usou para escrever este livro. Possui um blog onde disponibiliza esquemas de modelagem para confecção de roupas e um canal no youtube onde elabora e produz vídeos ensinando a modelar, cortar e costurar diversas peças do vestuário.
